Dr. Edwin J. Feulner honored with the Senator William L. Armstrong Award 

Dr. Edwin J. Feulner, Chairman Emeritus of the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation, was posthumously recognized with the William J. Armstrong Award on July 30, 2026.  

The Armstrong Award is “given to a leader who embodies the values that Senator Armstrong held dear — faith, family, and freedom — and who has made a difference in America’s culture through business, politics, or education.”  

The ceremony, held on the campus of Colorado Christian University in Denver, Colorado, brought together friends, family members, and representatives of the organizations that Dr. Feulner had led and served.  

A video presentation comprehensively documented the friendship of Senator Armstrong and Dr. Feulner as they brought conservative principles to their policy work in Washington, D.C.  

Chairman of the Board of Trustees of Colorado Christian University, Will Armstrong, interviewed Dr. Feulner shortly before his passing and spoke about the warmth and conviction of Dr. Feulner. The audience was deeply moved to once again hear Dr. Feulner, in his own words via video, testify to the enduring promise of America’s institutions and founding principles. 

Dr. Feulner’s son, E.J. Feulner, represented the family and presented a personal tribute and expressions of gratitude to friends and family. Vice President Mike Pence, who co-authored Dr. Feulner’s last major article, called on the audience to “relentlessly imitate” Ed Feulner’s patriotism and service. 

VOC President and CEO, Dr. Eric Patterson, attended the event and reflected, “Dr. Feulner continues to inspire us to action. Every speaker, indeed, every audience member, seemed to have a story of how Dr. Feulner had personally touched them. Not surprisingly, the night’s call to action was Dr. Feulner’s battle cry, ‘Onward!’”
