A Sense of Grateful Patriotism

“I pledge allegiance to the flag …”

Many Americans rightly worry that there is a crisis of confidence in our country, that younger generations are skeptical of the values proposition of the Declaration of Independence and the American Founding. Flag Day (June 14) gives us a chance to take stock of whether you and I are transmitting an appropriate love of America to the next generation.

The statistics are alarming. Due, in large part, to the neo-Marxist project to tear down America’s reputation by rewriting our history as one of racism, misogyny, and imperialism, only about half of American millennials say they are proud of America (as opposed to 84% of baby boomers).
