Survivor of Soviet Ukraine, Defense Expert, and Former Congressional Nominee Karina Lipsman Joins VOC

Today, the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation (VOC) is proud to announce Karina Lipsman, a former U.S. Congressional nominee and national security expert, has recently joined the organization as the Associate Director of Communications. VOC is a non-profit organization that aims to educate the public about the history and legacy of communism, including the more than 100 million victims killed and more than 1.5 billion still oppressed by communist regimes around the world.

Born in Odesa, Ukraine, Karina was the only Ukrainian refugee immigrant in the country to run for Congress in the 2022 election. She has a 14-year background in the defense and intelligence industry and is highly respected as an advocate and spokesperson for this field by political pundits, media, business leaders, and elected officials.

“We are thrilled to welcome Karina to the team,” said Ambassador Andrew Bremberg, VOC’s President. “Karina’s personal experience of surviving Soviet-era Ukraine, living under an oppressive communist regime, and then truly achieving the American Dream is not only an inspiration to us all, but is an invaluable asset to our organization.” VOC CEO Ken Pope added that the Foundation is “fortunate to have Karina’s knowledge and experience as we continue to expand our presence, advocacy, and community engagement.”

In her new role, Karina will be responsible for providing strategic guidance and advocating for VOC’s mission. She will work closely with the media, policymakers and elected officials, industry, and public advocates to promote education on the deadliest ideology the world has ever known.

“I am honored to join the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation to help further its mission of educating the public about the history of communism and its victims,” said Karina Lipsman. “I look forward to working with the VOC team to ensure that the organization continues to be a powerful voice for those who have suffered under communism.”

Karina currently serves on the Johns Hopkins University Alumni Council and Virginia Conservative Women’s Coalition Advisory Board. She is also a visiting fellow at the Independent Women’s Forum and her expert commentary has been featured on Fox News, Washington Times, Daily Caller, OANN, and more. Most recently Karina was the Corporate Strategy Development lead at Peraton, and prior to that served as a Senior Strategist at Northrop Grumman. She holds a Master of Science in Engineering from the Johns Hopkins University and a Bachelor of Science in Economics from Towson University.

Karina’s appointment as Associate Director of Communications at VOC reflects the foundation’s commitment to promoting education and awareness about the impacts of communism. With her expertise and passion, she is poised to make a significant contribution to VOC’s mission and help advance the organization’s goals.
