“The Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation is honored to welcome the Honorable Tidal McCoy to the Board,” said Chairman Dr. Elizabeth Edwards Spalding. “The Honorable Mr. McCoy brings a wealth of executive leadership experience from the government, defense, financial, nonprofit, education, and philanthropic sectors. Not only is he a true visionary, but he is also deeply committed to remembering the victims — and the crimes — of communism.”

He also serves as Chairman of IronGate Capital, a venture capital fund he recently co-founded. From 1981-1988, the Honorable Tidal W. McCoy served as Acting Secretary of the U.S. Air Force, Acting Undersecretary and Assistant Secretary for Manpower, Reserve Affairs, and Installations, and later Assistant Secretary for Readiness Support.
The Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation’s Board of Trustees has also elected a new Executive Committee, with Randal Cornell Teague as Vice Chairman, the Honorable James Burnley IV as Treasurer, and Dr. Ingrid Gregg as Secretary. Ambassador Aldona Wos, M.D. also joins the Board’s Executive Committee.
“VOC’s Executive Committee is uniquely positioned to guide the Foundation as we expand our education, research, and human rights programs to reach new audiences and assist those victims still suffering under the remaining communist regimes,” said VOC’s CEO Ken Pope. “I look forward to working with the Board in achieving our goals for 2023 and beyond.”
