Iron Ladies Network Visits VOC Museum
On Tuesday, November 19, VOC’s Latin American Programs Officer, Ana Leca, and Director of Government Relations, Karina Lipsman, were featured guests on a panel for The Heritage Foundation’s Iron Ladies Network.
VOC partnered with the Heritage Foundation in their effort to uplift female voices in the city, focusing specifically on the courageous women who stand against communism. After giving a brief tour of the VOC Museum, Leca and Lipsman, along with the other panel speakers, sat down to discuss their firsthand accounts of communism.
Leca was born and raised in Venezuela to an immigrant family from Spain and Portugal. She eventually relocated to Bogotá, Colombia to escape Venezuela’s political unrest and escalating violence.
Lipsman — who moderated the panel — hails from Odesa, Ukraine, and was the only Ukrainian refugee immigrant in the country to run for Congress in the 2022 election.
