Dr. Paul Kengor Receives VOC’s Lee Edwards Award for Scholarship

The Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation (VOC) is proud to announce that the recipient of its inaugural Lee Edwards Award for Scholarship is Dr. Paul Kengor. The Lee Edwards Award for Scholarship is VOC’s signature honor recognizing outstanding academic achievement. Dr. Kengor is a member of VOC’s Academic Council, professor of political science at Grove City College, and senior director at Grove City’s Institute for Faith and Freedom. Dr. Kengor has served as a visiting fellow at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University and has provided research expertise for the Center for Strategic and International Studies, The Heritage Foundation, and the Allegheny Foundation.

Dr. Kengor received his doctorate from the University of Pittsburgh’s Graduate School of Public and International Affairs and his master’s degree from The American University’s School of International Service.

Dr. Kengor is a New York Times best-selling author, with nearly 20 books to his credit. His books include A Pope and a President: John Paul II, Ronald Reagan, and the Extraordinary Untold Story of the 20th CenturyThe Communist; God and Ronald Reagan; and The Devil and Karl Marx. He has provided print commentary for major news outlets such as The Washington PostUSA TodayThe Wall Street Journal, and The New York Times. He is a longtime columnist and senior editor for The American Spectator.

The award is named for VOC Co-founder and Chairman Emeritus, Dr. Lee Edwards, who is a preeminent historian of contemporary American history and political thought. Dr. Edwards is adjunct professor of politics emeritus and former distinguished lecturer at the Catholic University of America. A prolific writer, Dr. Edwards is the author of 25 books and hundreds of articles and essays.

Dr. Edwards was a fellow at the Institute of Politics at the John F. Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University and the founding director of the Institute of Political Journalism at Georgetown University. He received a Ph.D. in world politics from Catholic University and a Doctorate of Humane Letters from Grove City College. He did graduate work at the Sorbonne and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Duke University.
