Dr. Patterson Speaks at Holodomor Memorial

VOC President and CEO Dr. Eric Patterson, Congressman Joe Wilson, Ukraine’s Chief of Chaplains Larysa Polyanska, and other officials gathered at the Holodomor Memorial as part of Ukraine Week commemorations.

In his remarks, Patterson said, “I used to think about this horrific, planned famine as simply that: one of the evil tactics that communists use to throttle a people into submission. It was much more. The Holodomor was just one of many efforts by Soviet Russia to exterminate Ukraine as a  a culture, a faith, a history, and a people with a unique and distinctive future. Sadly, the efforts to extinguish what is distinctive about Ukraine as a free and independent people continue today under Putin’s Russia. As we remember the past victims, we stand with the people of Ukraine today as they aspire to a just and enduring peace.”
