Call for Applications: Communications Associate 

Do you care about democracy and freedom around the globe? Authorized in 1993 by a unanimous Act of Congress, the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation (VOC) is an educational, research, and human rights nonprofit organization devoted to commemorating the more than 100 million victims of communism around the world and to pursuing the freedom of those still living under totalitarian regimes. 

VOC is seeking a Communications Associate to join the organization’s team in Washington, DC.

Summary  

This position will advance VOC’s mission by increasing awareness of the foundation and its activities. This position is responsible for leading media outreach to secure placement of VOC experts on TV, radio, and podcasts. The Communications Associate will also manage VOC’s social media platforms, update VOC’s websites, oversee mass email send-outs, and photograph events in the VOC Museum. Working with the communications team, this position will assist with special initiatives including Witness Project filming, copywriting, and graphic design. The Communications Associate will report to VOC’s Director of Communications. 

Duties and Responsibilities 

-Lead media outreach and placement of VOC experts on TV, radio, and podcasts.
-Manage VOC’s social media platforms.  
-Maintain and update VOC’s websites with event listings, blog posts, and press releases. 
-Oversee mass email send-outs for the organization. 
-Photograph VOC events and museum tours.  
-Assist with video production for the Witness Project and special initiatives. 
-Assist with copywriting and editing of VOC publications, including website materials, newsletters, and articles.  
-Maintain VOC Communications media and This Day in History tracker.

Physical Requirements 

-Ability to assist with tasks that could require lifting (up to 20lbs) and bending

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $58,000-$65,0000 annually. VOC offers a generous and comprehensive benefits program, including excellent health insurance, term life insurance, and paid leave.
