VOC Remembers Anthony R. Dolan

Anthony R. Dolan, special assistant to President Donald Trump for domestic policy, a chief speechwriter for President Ronald Reagan, and a leading voice in the fight against communism died this week.

Dolan was instrumental in crafting President Ronald Reagan’s messaging calling out communist tyranny, and famously co-authored speeches including Ash Heap of History and Evil Empire. Years prior, he won a Pulitzer Prize for Local Investigative Specialized Reporting for a series on municipal corruption in a Connecticut police department. His words have inspired countless people at home and abroad to fight for what is right.

“America has lost a powerful orator and a fierce soldier in the fight against communism,” said VOC President and CEO Dr. Eric Patterson. “Anthony Dolan was a patriot, a gifted rhetorician, and a true believer in freedom. We will continue to turn towards his words in times of hardship.”

The Victims of Communism Museum had the pleasure of hosting Dolan in 2023, where he shared words of wisdom on President Reagan’s administration and legacy. In his remarks, Dolan described he and President Reagan’s strategy to disarm and defeat the Soviet Union, saying, “Freedom had triumphed over tyranny due, in large measure, to President Ronald Reagan who summed up his strategy with four simple words: ‘We win, they lose.’”

Join us in remembering Anthony Dolan to continue his fight against communist tyranny so that we may win, and they might lose.
