VOC Presents Report at Organization of American States
On Monday, December 2, the Latin America Program’s team participated at an open meeting at the Organization of American States to present a report on Transnational Repression. They were joined by the Coalition for Human Rights and Democracy (Coalición por los Derechos Humanos y la Democracia), exposing cases of political persecution and harassment in Colombia, Nicaragua, and Venezuela.
The OAS embassies of Costa Rica, Paraguay, Dominican Republic, Argentina, Guatemala, Mexico, Colombia, and Canada all had representation present. One of the Nicaraguan victims present, Raiza Hope, has suffered 3 attempts of assassination in Costa Rica, and lost her daughter to a strike from the Ortega regime.
The report was presented by VOC’s Latin American Program Officer Ana Leca and Kelvi Zambrano, Advocacy Director of the Coalition for Human Rights and Democracy.
