VOC Hosts Teacher Seminar

On February 15, the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation partnered with the Foundation for Economic Freedom to hold an educator seminar on The Power of Freedom: Civics, Character, and Choice.
The event trained 30 teachers in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and featured VOC guest lecturers and witnesses of communism. VOC Senior Fellow Ken Pope opened the seminar with a presentation on Socialism and Communism: What Many Americans Say They Want. Later, VOC Academic Council Member Paul Kengor provided a talk on Marx & Marxism 101: Lessons for Today. This was followed by a lecture by VOC Senior Fellow and witness David Smolansky who spoke on the Voices of Venezuela: Power, Oppression, & Visions of Liberty.
The VOC team concluded the day by participating in a faculty panel on Educating for Freedom: The Role of Teachers in Inspiring Liberty and Prosperity.
The Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation was honored to participate in this event to empower educators to teach the truth about the enduring legacy of communism. For more information about VOC’s education efforts, explore the fourth edition of our curriculum on communism.
