The World Must Stand with Ukraine

As the world watches an authoritarian and revanchist Russia invade Ukraine, we are reminded that freedom is never guaranteed—it must be defended.

Since President Vladimir Putin took power, he has made one thing brazenly clear: the collapse of the USSR was a tragedy for his dark vision of Russia, the now independent nations of the former Soviet Union, and Europe. He has been actively working to reverse the democratic tide of much of Europe ever since. From the Russian invasion and occupation of Georgia to the Kremlin’s takeover of Crimea, and now today, to the unwarranted attack and invasion of Ukraine, we are reminded of the horrors of unchecked power, and the bloody history of Communism.

Right now, Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation (VOC) Chairman, Dr. Ed Feulner, and President, Amb. Andrew Bremberg, are on Europe’s frontlines, meeting with leaders of former communist countries. While the brutal legacy of Soviet imperialism is still alive today, the US is standing with the citizens of Europe and against the Kremlin. This present crisis underscores VOC’s mission to educate Americans of the continued threat of communism.

Ukrainian dissidents stood defiant in the face of Soviet oppression years ago. Ukrainian heroes stand before Russia’s onslaught today. Democracy will prevail.

It is up to us to remember the victims.
