The Hon. Carl Gershman
The Honorable Carl Gershman is a member of the National Advisory Council of the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation. Gershman is President of the National Endowment for Democracy. He was also Senior Counselor to the United States Representative to the United Nations, where he served as the U.S. Representative to the UN’s Third Committee that deals with human rights issues, and also as Alternate Representative of the U.S. to the UN Security Council. Gershman has also received numerous accolades, including The Order of the Knight’s Cross from the Government of Poland; The Distinguished Person for Advocating Democracy in China from the Chinese Education Democracy Foundation; Romania’s National Order of “faithful service”; and the Lithuanian Diplomacy Star of the Government of Lithuania, among many others. He received a B.A. from Yale in 1965 and an M.Ed. from Harvard in 1968.
