Harvey Klehr, Ph.D.

Dr. Harvey Klehr, who recently retired as Andrew W. Mellon Professor of Politics and History at Emory University, is a leading expert on the subjects of American communism, Soviet espionage in America, and the treatment of communism within the discipline of history. He served on the National Council on the Humanities from 2005 to 2011, has taught numerous National Endowment for the Humanities Summer Seminars for School Teachers, and is the author or co-author of thirteen books on American and Soviet communism, the most recent of which include The Communist Experience in America: A Political and Social History; Spies: The Rise and Fall of the KGB in America and Early Cold War Spies: The Espionage Trials That Shaped American Politics. Klehr holds a Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
