Dan Powell
Dan Powell serves as the Strategic Development Chair of the Victims of Communism-St. Louis Commission (VOC-STL). In this role he develops VOC-STL initiatives that call for truth, transparency, and accountability about the legacy of communism. He oversees projects and campaigns that bring a broader understanding of communism at the local level, including shedding light on the goals of communist organizations operating in St. Louis. Powell has been a member of VOC-STL since its founding and is proud serve on the leadership team of VOC’s first commission. He holds a B.S. in Aeronautics and an M.B.A. with graduate honors. Powell has worked for more than 20 years as a professional pilot, subject matter expert, checkairman, and has served as an instructor for clients around the world. A St. Louis native, Powell has volunteered for many local organizations including the Shaw Neighborhood Ownership Model (NOM), which he co-founded in 2018 and served as President during the organization’s first two years. In further support of violent crime reduction, Dan serves on the leadership team for the #ProtestThat organization. He has been interviewed in the Gendarme, for various pieces on KMOX news, and was invited to speak with the Show Me Institute’s Dr. Susan Pendergrass and Patrick Ishmael on “the Communist Movement in St. Louis.”
