Ladies Night at the VOC Museum

On Wednesday, October 22, 2025, the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation hosted its first Ladies Night at the Museum, a discussion and reception featuring VOC Chairman, Dr. Elizabeth Spalding, and Chinese Cultural Revolution survivor, Xi Van Fleet.

Opening remarks were given by Ashlee Davis, VOC’s Director of Development, before opening the floor to the night’s speaker. Xi Van Fleet’s emotional speech detailed the horrors she witnessed under communism as a child, as well as the parallels she’s observed between communist China and modern-day America. In a brief Q and A, Van Fleet described the beginning of her activist work in 2020 and explained why she’s come to feel more at home in the Western World.
