The Vandenberg Coalition: Valiant Women Series Featuring Amb. Aldona Woś

The Vandenberg Coalition and the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation were honored to host Ambassador Aldona Woś at the VOC Museum for a meaningful conversation about her experience in medicine, government, and human rights.

The Hon. Aldona Woś, MD currently serves as President of the Institute of World Politics. Prior to her time in academia, she was the U.S.’s ambassador to the Republic of Estonia from 2004-2006. During her tenure, she promoted a variety of public health initiatives, including HIV and AIDS prevention. President George W. Bush also appointed her to serve on the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Council. Prior to her federal government service, she was North Carolina’s Secretary of the Department of Health and Human Services and was on The University of North Carolina’s Board of Governors. Most recently, she was vice-chairwoman of the President’s Commission on White House Fellowships under former President Trump. Her father, who would later be honored with a “Righteous Among the Nations” medal from Yad Vashem, survived the Flossenbùrg Concentration Camp and her mother is a survivor of Nazi Germany’s child slave labor. Ambassador Woś serves on the Board of Trustees for the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation.
