Belene – A Bulgarian Resistance Story

The Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation invites you to the VOC Museum to experience a pop-up interactive exhibit: “Belene – A Bulgarian Resistance Story.” This exhibit provides visitors with the unique opportunity to speak with Nikola Daskalov, a survivor of the Bulgarian gulag, through artificial intelligence (AI).

This pioneering effort by the Sofia Platform Foundation, with support from the America for Bulgaria Foundation, preserves the memory of Bulgaria’s past using AI to adapt over 120 hours of in-person interviews with Bulgaria’s few remaining gulag survivors.

Belene – A Bulgarian Resistance Story, will compel you to reflect on history and celebrate the enduring spirit of freedom. This exhibit is part of the Belene.Camp Project.

The exhibit will only be open for three days during museum operating hours from 9 am – 3 pm.
