Robert Suettinger
Robert Suettinger is a retired civil servant and amateur historian. Suettinger worked in the U.S. government from 1975 to 1998. During his career in public service, Suettinger was an Asian affairs analyst at the Central Intelligence Agency, Director of the Office of Analysis for East Asia and the Pacific at the State Department, National Intelligence Officer for East Asia on the National Intelligence Council, and Director of Asian Affairs on the National Security Council. After leaving government service, he moved to the private sector and worked at several think tanks, including The Brookings Institution, RAND Corporation and The Stimson Center. Suettinger holds an M.A. from Columbia University and a B.A. from Lawrence University.
