The Hon. Kateryna Yushchenko
The Honorable Kateryna Yushchenko’s father, Mykhailo Yushchenko, was a survivor of the Soviet Famine of 1932-1933. The fight for human rights and exposing the world to the atrocities of communism, like the famine that affected her father, is evident through Yushchenko’s life achievements—among which is co-founding the Ukraine-USA Foundation, directing at the Pylyp Orlyk Institute, and serving as Special Assistant to the Assistant Secretary of State for Human Rights and Humanitarian Affairs. In 2008, the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation awarded Yushchenko with the Truman Reagan Medal of Freedom.
