The Hon. Edwin Meese III
The Honorable Edwin Meese III is the Ronald Reagan Distinguished Fellow Emeritus at The Heritage Foundation. Meese served President Ronald Reagan as his legal affairs secretary and chief of staff during his governorship of California and as counsellor to the president from 1981 to 1985. From 1985 to 1987 he served as the 75th Attorney General of the United States. During his long association with The Heritage Foundation, Meese held the Ronald Reagan Chair in Public Policy and led the Center for Legal and Judicial Studies. Meese has authored or coauthored several books, including The Heritage Guide to the Constitution and With Reagan: The Inside Story. Meese holds a B.A. from Yale University and a degree from the UC Berkeley School of Law.
