H.E. Vaira Vīķe-Freiberga, Ph.D.
Her Excellency Dr. Vaira Vike-Freiberga is President of the Club de Madrid and former President of Latvia (1999-2007). She was instrumental in achieving Latvia’s membership into the EU and NATO. In 2005, she was appointed Special Envoy to the UN. In 2011, she was awarded the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation’s Truman-Reagan Medal of Freedom.
