The Hon. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen
The Honorable Ileana Ros-Lehtinen served as the House Representative for Florida’s 27th congressional district from 1989 to 2019. Born in 1960, Representative Ros-Lehtinen and her family were forced to flee their homeland of Cuba under the oppressive regime of Fidel Castro. She played an important role in the Cuban-American lobby as well as the Congressional Cuba Democracy Caucus, voicing continued criticism of the communist regime in Cuba. In 2011, the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation awarded her the Truman-Reagan Medal of Freedom.
