Freedom on the Line: The Romanian Revolution of 1989

On December 2, the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation, joined with the Embassy of Romania, and the Romanian Cultural Institute in New York to remember the Romanian Revolution of 1989. The event opened with a brief reception followed by remarks from the Ambassador of Romania to the United States, Andrei Muraru, and VOC President Ambassador Andrew Bremberg. A panel discussion explored the heroes of the revolution and their significance to the genesis of democracy—how Romania threw off the heavy coat of censorship under communist rule to become a thriving democracy. The event also featured a viewing of the documentary Rebels with a Cause.
