Faith and Freedom Forum: Presentation of “Cuba Crucis” Documentary and Panel Conversation with Cuban Religious Leaders

On November 7, 2022, VOC hosted a special event organized in partnership with OAA, IRI, CSW, and Directorio Cubano for a presentation of the documentary “Cuba Crucis” followed by a panel conversation with Cuban religious leaders.

In the strictest secrecy and under harsh restrictions due to Covid 19, a team led by journalist Yoe Suárez investigated how the lack of individual freedoms affects fully living the faith in Cuba.

Between 2020-2021 journalist and filmmaker Yoe Suárez produced a web series about how the lack of individual liberties affects living faith in Cuba. It was transformed into a feature-length documentary film, Cuba Crucis (2022), with more than 20 voices from Cuban civil society reflecting on freedom of consciousness. Cuba Crucis was premiered in a clandestine presentation in Camaguey, Cuba, in 2021; and was internationally released in the United States in 2022.
