Frank Dikötter, Ph.D.
Dr. Frank Dikötter is the Chair Professor of Humanities at the University of Hong Kong, a Senior Fellow at the Hoover Institution, and a published author. Dikötter worked at the School of Oriental and African Studies in 1990, and was a British Academy Postdoctoral Fellow, a Wellcome Research Fellow, and a Personal Chair Professor of the Modern History of China up to 2006 when he left to work at the University of Hong Kong. Besides that, Dikötter is the author of numerous books and a book series called “People’s Trilogy,” detailing the history of the People’s Republic of China from Mao’s victory in 1949 to the Cultural Revolution’s end in 1976. Dikötter holds a B.A. in history and Russian studies from the University of Geneva, and a Ph.D. in history from the School of Oriental and African Studies.
