Tara O, Ph.D.
Dr. Tara O is a member of the Academic Council of the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation. She is a Fellow at the East Asia Research Center (EARC) and the Institute for Corean-American Studies (ICAS) as well as an Adjunct Fellow at the Hudson Institute.
Dr. O is the author of The Collapse of North Korea: Challenges, Planning and Geopolitics of Unification. Her research areas include South Korea’s politics and history, the Korean contingency and unification, U.S. alliance in Asia, human rights in North Korea, and the social integration of North Korean defectors.
As a career U.S. Air Force officer, Tara O worked on national security, intelligence, alliance, and political-military issues at the Pentagon, the United Nations Command/Combined Forces Command/U.S. Forces Korea, and the U.S. European Command. While on active duty, she has also taught military strategy and operations at the U.S. Air Force Academy.
She holds a BA from the University of California at Davis, an MPA from Princeton University, and a Ph.D. from the University of Texas at Austin.
