In support of our mission to “educate this generation and future generations about the ideology, history, and legacy of communism,” the
Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation (VOC) is establishing local commissions. These commissions are designed in collaboration with local residents and community leaders who are committed to telling the truth about communism and to preserving the memory of its victims. We partner with community leaders to raise awareness about communism through public events, media campaigns, and professional development.
St. Louis, Missouri
The city of St. Louis has a long history of welcoming immigrants and in particular those coming from southeast Asia as political refugees. Fleeing the threat of communist oppression, many came to St. Louis from Laos and Thailand in the 1970s; and from Vietnam in the 1980s and 1990s.
