The Hon. Daniel Lipinski
The Honorable Daniel Lipinski, Ph.D., represented Illinois’ Third District in the U.S. House of Representatives from 2005 to 2021. He distinguished himself as a commonsense legislator who brought people together to solve problems, authoring numerous laws on transportation, research and technological innovation, the promotion of American manufacturing, restoring fiscal responsibility, and honoring America’s veterans and seniors. Lipinski was a champion of human rights and one of the founding co-chairs of the Congressional Caucus for the Victims of Communism as well as a co-chair of the Congressional International Religious Freedom Caucus.
Daniel Lipinski is a Distinguished Visiting Fellow at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University where he is working on a project to revitalize American institutions, focusing especially on Congress. He is also the Pope Leo XIII Fellow on Social Thought at the University of Dallas where he teaches, mentors, and gives talks. Lipinski has recently published articles in The Atlantic, First Things, America, and Public Discourse, as well as op-eds in the The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, The Dallas Morning News, and Chicago Tribune. Lipinski is currently working on a book about his work in Congress and what needs to be done to overcome the dangerous divide that threatens the American republic. In addition, he is President of Lipinski Solutions, LLC, a consulting firm.
Lipinski has a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from Northwestern University and an M.S. in Engineering-Economic Systems from Stanford University, as well as a Ph.D. in Political Science from Duke University. Before being elected to Congress, he was an assistant professor of American Government at the University of Notre Dame and the University of Tennessee, and author of Congressional Communication: Content and Consequences (University of Michigan Press). Daniel and his wife, Judy, reside in Western Springs, Illinois.
