On Friday, August 23, the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation (VOC) joined Baltic diaspora from around the United States for a reenactment of the Baltic Way human chain at the U.S. Capitol to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Baltic Way.
The Baltic Way demonstration, a peaceful and unique demonstration that took place on August 23, 1989, to protest the Soviet occupation of the Baltic nations, united two million people from the Baltic nations of Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania who held hands over a distance of 370 miles in solidarity for the freedom of the Baltic nations.
Afterword, there was an informal gathering at Biergarten Haus, 1355 H Street NE, Washington, D.C. 20002.
