Young Cuban Leaders Visit VOC Memorial

U.S.-Cuba Democracy Young Leaders Group with David Talbot

On September 16, 2015 a group of talented students and young professionals of the U.S. Cuba Democracy PAC visited the VOC Memorial and discussed avenues of engagement to ensure that democratic values and human rights are a cornerstone of U.S.-Cuba policy.

David Talbot, Assistant Director of Development of VOC briefed the group about ways in which VOC seeks to raise awareness of the 100 million victims of communism including vigorous support of renaming the street in front of the Cuban Embassy in Washington after Cuban dissident Oswaldo Payá.

The U.S.-Cuba Democracy Young Leaders Group (“YLG”) is dedicated to raising awareness among young Americans about the courageous efforts of Cuba’s vibrant and diverse pro-democracy and civil rights movement. YLG works with student leaders on campuses throughout the U.S. to empower them to strengthen the critical relationship between the United States and Cuba’s pro-democracy opposition.
