Tiananmen Square commemorative ceremony
Twenty-six years ago this Thursday, peaceful student protestors in China’s Tiananmen Square were murdered by their own government, shot by soldiers or rolled under the tread of PLA tanks.
The papier-mâché “Goddess of Democracy” statue that the protestors erected over the course of those fateful days stands today in bronze at the Victims of Communism Memorial, a resolute reminder of the universal thirst for liberty–and the universal menace of communism.
We commemorated the victims of 1989 Tiananmen Square massacre, and laid wreaths and flowers to honor the memory of those lives cut short by communist government.
Featuring remarks by Dr. Yang Jianli (Initiatives for China) and Dr. Lee Edwards (Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation).
