Oriana Mastro, Ph.D.

Dr. Oriana Mastro is an assistant professor of securities studies at Georgetown University, an officer in the U.S. Airforce Reserve, and a Senior China Analyst at the Pentagon. Mastro researches the intersection of interstate conflict, great power relations, and the challenges of rising powers with a focus on China and East Asia. Mastro is a Jean Kirkpatrick Scholar at the American Enterprise Institute (AEI) where she is currently writing a book about China’s approach to global leadership, and she won the Individual Reservist of the Year Award for her work on U.S. strategy in Asia. Mastro authored the book The Costs of Conversation: Obstacles to Peace Talks in Wartime, and she is a past Fellow of the Asia-Pacific Security program at the Center for a New American Security.
