On March 25, 2012 over 60 people gathered in Washington DC to commemorate the March 25, 1949 Soviet deportations of nearly 100,000 citizens of the Baltic countries of Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania. In addition, members of the Belarusian community were present that evening to honor their victims and to commemorate Belarusian Freedom Day.
