Vigil and Commemoration of 1949 Soviet Mass Deportations of the Baltics
Under Soviet rule, mass deportations displaced thousands of men, women, and children across the Baltic states. One of the largest deportations–on 25 March, 1949–saw some 20,000 Estonians exiled from their home country.
We honored and remembered the innocent citizens of Estonia, Latvia, and Lithuania who were arrested and deported to the Soviet Union in March 1949, and those victims from Belarus, who celebrate their National Day.
We should never forget and we should never let the world forget.
