8th Annual Roll Call of Nations Wreath Laying Ceremony & Presentation of the Truman-Reagan Medal of Freedom
In June of 2007, President George W. Bush dedicated our Victims of Communism Memorial, the only memorial in the world dedicated to every single victim. President Bush said,
We have an obligation to future generations to record the crimes of the 20th century and make sure they’re never repeated. In this hallowed place we recall the lessons of the Cold War: that freedom is precious and cannot be taken for granted.
Every June since, VOC holds an event at the Memorial to recall these lessons.
Featuring remarks by:
The Rev. Canon Charles H. Nalls, American Cold War Veterans Association
Marion Smith, Executive Director of the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation
Dr. Lee Edwards, Chairman of the Victims of Communism Memorial Foundation
Alexander Podrabinek, 2015 recipient of the Truman-Reagan Medal of Freedom
Guillermo Fariñas, 2015 recipient of the Truman-Reagan Medal of Freedom
János Martonyi, former Hungarian Minister of Foreign Affairs
The ceremony concluded with the Roll Call of Nations during which embassies and organizations representing oppressed people groups will lay a wreath at the Memorial.
Bookings are closed for this event.
